ABOUT US
In 2005, under the leadership of Pastors Karl and Dyrie Francis at Living Word Open Bible Church in Hollywood, FL, planted a church in Port St Lucie, FL. While in prayer for a member of their church who relocated to the Port St Lucie, FL area, they sensed that God was about to birth a ministry in that city. The intercessory prayer group of Living Word Open Bible Church began to pray intentionally for God to direct our leadership concerning this new outreach.
A year prior, as other families also relocated to this city, the church received the "Macedonian call" to start a ministry in the Port St Lucie, FL area. Pastor Karl A. Francis, Rev. Laval T. Hines, and other members of the Living Word Open Bible Church board began to actively pursue the planting of this church. Planning meetings were held at a member's home in Port St Lucie, and God had graciously sent ahead three INSTE (Institute of Theology by Extension) first level graduates, prayer intercessors and supporting families to join the church.
On January 22, 2005, over 50 persons, including the South East region Superintendent, Rev. Jim Beaird, came together in the home of the Gordon family for the official launching of service. The worship was exuberant and many shared testimonies of what it meant for them to participate in this outreach. Rev. Beaird challenged the group to expect big things from God, because He wanted to partner with faith.
Sunday morning church meetings were held at a community center in Port St Lucie for several years, while evening and mid-week services were conducted at a local home. The church's current location is a home that was purchased in 2017 in a residential area zoned for commercial business operations. It has undergone some renovations to accommodate services, while the church continues to raise funds to build a church building.
In 2020, during the pandemic, the church branched out to broadcast their services on Facebook and on Youtube to allow the congregation to stay safe from COVID-19, while using precautions for those who attend in-person services by wearing masks and social distancing. This move has allowed more people have access to the Gospel of Jesus Christ as we aim to fulfill the mission to reach the world.
